Stalled out

The Sewing Summit

Well I am Sewing Summit bound on Wednesday and I am so excited!

I was all ready to make an Emmeline Apron by Sew Liberated to sport while sewing at the Summit...

And on Friday I went to the LQS and picked up some really fun large polka dot fabric by Moda, to sew up Barcelona Skirt and apron overlay by Amy Butler and then BAM head cold!

So the only progress I have made is on my Star Blossom for the Travelling Stitch Blog Hop  I will be featured on October 26th! I actually made a to-go bag for my rulers and sewing supplies to take with me to the Sewing Summit,  and I am going to put the EPP block on it.

I used and modified this art case tutorial by This Mama Makes Stuff, I found on the Travel Handmade Pinterest board. I made a few design errors that I will have to improve; but over all for a stuffy head, I am proud.

Sorry no pictures. I will post on my day of the EPP hop! Hopefully I will get at least one apron sewn up before I leave!

Blog Hop

I am getting ready to be in my very first Blog Hop.  It is a English Paper Piecing Blog Hop, and so I must get started.  This means that my project will be hand stitched. See the details of the whole Hop here.  Sage and I went out to take some pictures today to see what we could come up with.

I would really like to get a new camera that took better pictures... but not in the budget.  I might also just need a better eye.

Sewing Summit here I come!

The Sewing Summit

I am so excited.  In just three weeks I am headed to the Sewing Summit.  Although I was at first disappointed when I did not get my first choices of classes, I am feeling better now.  I still do not have what I want but it seems like I will be able to learn a ton at the after hour sessions.  I am bringing fabric for every class I wanted to take just in case I have the opportunity to get my hands on some of the teachers.  The only fabric I did not buy and prep is the fabric for te Maxi skirt.  I think that I could probably learn from someone and then come home and make one if I really want one.

I am currently trying to get everything prepared and make a few more things before I leave.

I did get most of the fabric cut this week for the classes, a badge made, and a pouch started.  I am still working on quilting a Christmas present for my step mother.

Here is my badge.  I wanted to do it in vintage since I have fallen in love with vintage sheets.

I also wanted to show you the great mug rug and sweet little pouches I received this week in Flickr swaps.

JennygoLightly from Flickr made me the two little pouches to go with my purse I made this summer in the handstitched class.

Natalie made me this awesome mug rug to match my house!

We also spent the morning making apricot jam.  One of the ladies at the Spiritual Center I work at keeps bringing apricots from her tree.  I have bought some for the last 3 weeks and Ben keeps making pie.  Since he is out of town I decided this is the week Sage and I would make Jam.  Yummy it is all canned up!

Here is the pouch I will be bringing to swap.  I drafted my own pattern using this tutorial.  I am still getting the hang of the zipper tabs... I love this fabric and thought it would be fun to enter into the swap, since everyone is so into text fabric these days.

Happy Birthday Flora Mae

Our beautiful Niece and Sage's Cousin Flora will be turning 1 on June 10th.

In celebration of Flora I made her this beautiful quilt.  It was part of the Stitched in Color Curves class I took this winter for my birthday.  The pattern actually had one more curve to it; however during quilting I had a major accident and fold in the backing and could not bear to pull out all of the quilting for a third time so.... I chopped it and the result was a square quilt.

Sage is a great model.

These are the awesome sandals that my husband made for Sage.

Tova Top

My sewist friend Cat and I,  decided to make the so hip Tova tops.  Thanks Cat for the inspiration it turned out so fun!  I highly recommend the pattern to anyone.  I added some extra darts in the back to give it a little extra body.

Modern She Made

I have been addicted to online swapping on Flickr. It is so much fun because it can push you out of your comfort zone. You receive a mystery partner and their likes and dislikes and then you come up with a plan. Here is my swap that will head off to my partner soon.
