I am so excited. In just three weeks I am headed to the Sewing Summit. Although I was at first disappointed when I did not get my first choices of classes, I am feeling better now. I still do not have what I want but it seems like I will be able to learn a ton at the after hour sessions. I am bringing fabric for every class I wanted to take just in case I have the opportunity to get my hands on some of the teachers. The only fabric I did not buy and prep is the fabric for te Maxi skirt. I think that I could probably learn from someone and then come home and make one if I really want one.
I am currently trying to get everything prepared and make a few more things before I leave.
I did get most of the fabric cut this week for the classes, a badge made, and a pouch started. I am still working on quilting a Christmas present for my step mother.
Here is my badge. I wanted to do it in vintage since I have fallen in love with vintage sheets.
I also wanted to show you the great mug rug and sweet little pouches I received this week in Flickr swaps.
JennygoLightly from Flickr made me the two little pouches to go with my purse I made this summer in the handstitched class.
Natalie made me this awesome mug rug to match my house!
We also spent the morning making apricot jam. One of the ladies at the Spiritual Center I work at keeps bringing apricots from her tree. I have bought some for the last 3 weeks and Ben keeps making pie. Since he is out of town I decided this is the week Sage and I would make Jam. Yummy it is all canned up!
Here is the pouch I will be bringing to swap. I drafted my own pattern using this tutorial. I am still getting the hang of the zipper tabs... I love this fabric and thought it would be fun to enter into the swap, since everyone is so into text fabric these days.
