WIP Wednesday

Wednesday already? How time flies. Well I have been busy with the curves class, and really having fun with the impromptu curves. I feel like I am a week behind.

This weekend I finished the top for Oh Christmas Tree.

I also knocked out quite a few blocks for the string block swap.

Tonight I finished the top for my Rainbow Road... In purple.

I also finished up a scrap basic in warm colors.

No progress on bee blocks for Flickr... Must do ASAP.

Hi there so it is already Wednesday and I have gotten a lot done in the last few weeks.  It is impossible to not want to do all of the beautiful projects that are out there.  With the Curves class I am taking it seems that keeping up means three new projects a week so the old ones are put on the shelf.  I am loving what I am learning, and I have made some progress on other things too!  Go check out WIP Wednesday and all the other links!

Curves Week One

After one week of curves with Rachel at Stitched in Color I have finished 2 of the 3 projects.  I bought a bias tape maker... to finish the third project but unfortunately I bought it the wrong size!  So here are the projects as for now.

This is the one that is not quite done... Darn binding tape!

 Bib... Not sure the laminate fabric was a great idea...

This was my favorite and I am hoping to make more!

I also finished some other projects this week:

Block for Skill Builder Sampler.  The Sampler is going to be on  a few week hiatus... so I am going to try and catch up on all of the other projects I have going.

Let the Curves Begin

For my birthday I bought myself an online sewing class.  I am taking the curves class through Rachael at Stitched in Color.  The class started on Wednesday with introductions.  But I can not wait until it really gets started on Monday with our first lesson and project.

 In the meantime I have been making bee blocks for the different online bees that I am in. For the Modern 99 Bee we are making the stargazing pattern and so I decided I would make a practive block with the fabric that I was going to use to make Lis's MacBook Air Cover.  I like how it turned out so boom a few more and wala the front cover was pieced.  Note:  When doing the points of the star cateful not to make them too long.  Too long results in the points getting cut off when you piece it together.

 For the back of the cover I wanted to do a fun freemotion design and some machine applique.  We call lis  bird so I thought it would be fun to do a bird on the back.  I sent it off to her on Thursday and I hope she loves it!

Last night I put together an ipad for my mother in law.  It is quite simple and I used the tutorial from
One Shabby Chic.

I also finished and caught up on my We Can Do it Skillbuilder Quilt Along.  

These are some blocks I made for my Local Quilt Guild.  We each make a block and turn it in at the next meeting.  They act as raffle tickets.  Whomevers block gets picked gets to take home all the blocks.  You can make more than one to up your chances of winning.  I am feeling lucky and going to just enter the one.  I made some practice blocks and turned them into little coasters.  I gave them away at school as part of our Send some Sunshine Club.

Blogger's Choice Fat Quarter Bundle

Over the past few months I have been a member of the Fat Quarter Shop's Blogger's Choice Fat Quarter Club.   Each month I receive fabrics picked out by a quilt blogger.  Today I was searching blogland and figured out that I can make up a dream bundle.... and might even win it!  How cool is this?  Just in the nick of time I am adding my entry to Quokka Quilts who is hosting a Blogger's Choice Fat Bundle contest!  I went over to the Fat Quarter Shop, and choose 12 fabrics + 3 coordinating solids to create my own bundle.   So glad I didn't miss the deadline which is tomorrow. Happy New Year

Well a new year is upon us and we are already two weeks in.  So New's Years resolutions?  Mine is t try and use less plastic bags at the grocery store.  Bring your own or do not get one!!! Harder than I think sometimes.  But I am doing better.

Projects I am still working on:

I caught up for the most part over break and now I am behind again. I have three blocks to do to get caught up.  So, actually I am not that far behind.  I am learning so much with this quilt along and recomend it to anyone who wants to learn a lot about quilting.  My friend Kat came over today and gave me a few hand applique tips.  Thanks!  Very helpful.

Ipad and laptop covers (4):

Over Christmas my family liked my ipad cover and since they all received new apple devices for Christmas I was asked to make them all covers for their ipads and computers.  I have chosen material but have made no further progress.  

I have my Flickr Bees as well.  I make blocks each monthe for these.  It is my month with one of the bees, so I look forward to receiving these blocks.

Round 2 For the Love of Solids

I am so excited to be a part of the Curves Class over at stitchedincolor.com.

I am going to try and enter the Scrap Attack Challenge.  I would like to make some rainbow baskets out of my scraps.  

I do not have a plan, however there is a challenge up dealing with tangerine.  I might just come up with something to enter!!!  Orange is my favorite color.

My Step Mom Norma asked me to make her a tree skirt.  So far I have the pattern... but no progress.
